Black Girls Engage in YP Week?

Engage! Cleveland’s Young Professionals Week (YP Week) is one of my favorite weeks of the year! This will be my third year attending and past years have done wonders for me!

I’ve met friends that I still connect with, gotten amazing opportunities and connections, and have become more confident with networking since I first attended back in 2016.

This year, I’m excited to further grow and connect with Cleveland professionals.

I’m looking forward to attending the Hop College event at Great Lakes Brewing Company. Like most events during this amazing week, networking is paired with fun events like this one! I’m a beer drinker so I’m interested to learn more about it. Plus, who doesn’t love networking with a cold one?

Food is another favorite part about Young Professional’s week. Each event has amazing appetizers made by local Cleveland businesses. I cannot wait to dive into the Donut Panel and Tasting being held at the Hub 55. All I needed to hear was that there would be donuts and I’m there!

I’ll never forget the first I attended the Closing Party at FWD in 2016. It’s actually where I met part of the Black Girl in CLE team and look where that’s lead me! It was a fun intro to how cool the Flats is. I couldn’t believe my eyes when we walked into FWD. It felt like I was at a club in Miami (but cooler because it’s in Cleveland).

A chance meeting with Shana and Chauna. Months later the start of  Black Girl in the CLE.

Overall, I’m looking forward to a week of Cleveland. My favorite part about Engage Cleveland events is getting to explore the city, try new things, and see new places!

Editor's note: Black Girl in the CLE's own, Shana will be on the panel for the Ladies of CLE:  Supporting and Uplifting Women event during YP week.
