Invite Friends & Showcase Cleveland
Sometimes it’s easy to forget that Cleveland is an amazing place. We have 3 major sports teams, the 2nd largest theater district in the county and the country’s oldest African-American performing arts theater. We live near and play in one of the 5 Great Lakes and spend our time at a variety of festivals all summer long.
I also know from running this site that you, our readers, are getting better with exploring the city and trying new things. It's also helping to continue to push me to explore more, so let's continue and tell our out-of-town friends and family what’s good in the CLE.
Last week I checked out Visit Me in CLE tents at Wade Oval Wednesday. At the tents I saw people playing games, creating a giant Cleveland and writing out postcards to friends inviting them to come visit Cleveland. I also learned the why and what of Visit Me in CLE.
What is Visit Me in CLE and do people actually have to stay at my house?
(No, it's a nice gesture but you don’t have to have family and friends to crash at your house if you don’t want them to stay. Cleveland has some amazing hotels so you could point them in that direction, or you can make it a staycation and stay downtown too...)
Visit Me in CLE is the newest campaign of Destination Cleveland, our travel and visitors bureau and the people who brought us the Cleveland script signs sprinkled throughout the city. While their main focus is on advertising Cleveland to neighboring cities and states they know that many people travel based on where friends and family are located. Think about it, how many of you get away for a quick trip or mini-vacation to stay with friends and family? Now ask yourself how have you shown off the city to get people to want to come and hang out here with you? That’s the premise of Visit Me in CLE.
Why Visit Me in CLE
For us to realize the unique events, venues, and festivals we attend...AND to invite others to come hang out with us. Destination Cleveland has set a goal to have 20 million visitors come to Cleveland by 2020 and we should all do our part.
I have a lot going on right now, so what do I have to do??
It’s Simple. When you go out, take a picture and use the hashtag #VistmeinCLE. That’s it..how easy is that? Think about it, you’re at Wade Oval or downtown for a concert or comedy show and you’re going to take a picture or share a snap anyway so just add the hashtag.
Too easy? Want to do more? Head over to the Visit Me in CLE website and share a postcard across your social media. You can also send a real postcard to friends and family by visiting the Destination Cleveland tent at local events.
