Interesting film. It wasn’t what I expected but then I didn't know what to expect and that's the best part of CIFF.

This Indonesian film is described as a "Satay Western" and that's what made it interesting. The plot and story took too long, but the landscape was beautifully expansive. I thought Indonesia was a tropical landscape and had no clue about their rolling hills like those in American Western movies. Strong female lead demonstrating a different take on the #metoo movement. Marlina gets revenge. Violence and sex but not excessive or over the top.

Showing again 4/7 and 4/8
