Shana's Favorite CLE Small Businesses

Merchant’s Mrkt

Legacy Village- 24687 Cedar Road, Lyndhurst, OH 44124

I wasn’t planning to include Merchant Mrkt on my list because it was supposed to go away after the holiday season. It began as a holiday pop up shop, but recently announced that it would stay open. Merchant Mrkt is a great place to find a variety of locally made products in one place. As a matter of fact, my next three businesses have items in the store.

Fear’s Confections

15208 Madison Ave., Lakewood, OH 44107

If I’m on the West side, I’m going to Fear’s. Well, sometimes if I’m on the east side and want chocolate, I’ll drive over to Lakewood. Yes, it’s that good. Fear’s Confections offers a variety of chocolate candies and brownies. Currently, their Trump Dump candies are in high demand, but their Cleveland bars are also big sellers. If you can’t make it over to Lakewood, they have a limited variety confections at Merchant Mrkt at Legacy Village.

Pope’s Kitchen

Pope’s Kitchen products are my go-to gifts for birthdays, housewarmings, or any adult occasion. They offer a variety of hot sauces, spreads, drink mixes, and other bar products. Pope’s is best known for the Bloody Mary Mix, but my favorite is the Margarita Mix.

Pope’s Kitchen products can be found at various locations in CLE including the Wine Spot, Market Districts, Merchant’s Mrkt at Legacy Village, and online.

Barr’s Bars

OMG I love this soap. On Small Business Saturday last fall, I bought the Charcoal Puck Soap and the Peppermint Lip Balm. I loved both. Unfortunately, I lost my lip balm within a week, but I still remember how awesome my lips felt after using it. As for the soap, I’m hooked. I love how clean my face feels after using it and don’t see myself switching back to my prior face cleaner.

Raving Med

1621 Euclid Ave. Cleveland, OH 44115

Raving Med is one of my favorite lunchtime stops when I'm downtown. Located in Playhouse Square at the corner of E. 17th and Euclid, they serve Mediterranean street food. When ordering you choose from a pita, salad or bowl and customize with your favorite protein and veggies.

Do You Desserts

I stumbled upon these brownie’s at the Real Black Friday event last summer.  Do You Desserts is part of the Do You Fitness family. What makes these brownies unique is that they are for people like me who struggle to kick the chocolate habit while trying to be healthy. They taste good and my trainer approved them as an occasional treat so that’s why they are on my list.

Black-owned

Do You Desserts has partnered with Black Girl in the CLE and is offering a coupon to try the Protein Brownies
