Cleveland Adventures: Eaton Explorers
by Nanekia Ansari
If you don’t know who Dora is, you have either never been around children or you live under a rock! Well allow my littlest one and I to take you on a journey of exploration as we enjoy our time at Eton Explorers!
Hosted by the Lillian and Betty Ratner School and Northeast Ohio Parent magazine, we are prepped and ready for some summer time fun. The event is free and open to the public, they ask that you register online if you want to get the highlighted freebie of that day. The exploration is only offered from June to August on the second Tuesday of the month at, 28601 Chagrin Blvd. Woodmere, OH 44122 from 11am-1pm.
Our first encounter this year was a Safari Party. We entered the jungle via the parking lot by Trader Joes where we encounter a safety guard who escorts us into our good time. We explore each booth and their amazing give a ways and loads of information.
There are activities for children 6 months to 6 years old. We head over to the grass for the main event… JUNGLE TERRY & FRIENDS!! Jungle Terry begins to introduce us to all types of safari friends and you hear the ohhhs and ahhs from the crowd, hen silence. What’s next?? Jungle Terry reaches deep in the depths of his private stash and pulls out a huge PYTHON! We’re scared, excite, nervous, curious. He lets the massive animal loose and our eyes get wide. My daughter is totally caught up in the trance of this huge snake and I’m plotting our course to the car in case this whole thing goes left.
We are allowed to touch the snake and even hold a portion of it. We learn real facts about all the animals and them BOOM 1pm hits and its raffle time. Raffle time is something for all the mommies out there. Each sponsor of the event raffles off a prize. There are some amazing gifts given (we didn’t win). A good time was had by all.
Our second event was a super hero/princess theme party. We are escorted by the royal guard to the main country side where we see Cinderella. She is dressed in her signature blue gown, tiara and glass slippers, not far behind her we see Captain America, we don’t know which to hug first but then they both greet us, and Anissa nearly faints.
We barely make it to the registration table and we run into Tinker Bell, she helps us navigate and then there we are, if we use our imaginations we’d call this canopy the middle of the grand ballroom with all our super hero friends and princesses surrounding us.
There are new booths to visit this time and more gems to collect. We dance with Moana and Spiderman, then make our way to the fire tuck where Woodmere safety fleets is help us explore our chances of being a firefighter or safety worker.
There is clearly magic in the air when raffle time rolls around again. Once again, we hear the announcement of some amazing prizes (we did not win!) We have hope we will win one day.
The final party a Water-Pooloza will take place August 7. We are excited to don our bathing suits and have a good time with a few families we met that our regulars. We can’t wait to see what sponsors will be in attendance at our under the sea adventure and to take our chances once again with the raffle. Join us and have an amazing family fun free time.
