While scrolling Facebook for events last week, I found the 1st Annual Holiday Cannabis Market presented by EDIYBLES. Not knowing what to expect, I headed over to Red Space to explore the Cleveland Cannabis scene.

An expo of edibles?

Not exactly, there were vendors that sold cookies and ice cream made with hemp. There were also vendors that sold products, oils, and other CBD type items. There was also an organization Good Harvest Health that was helping people get their medical marijuana card.

Who was there?

When I pulled up to Red Space, I saw a lot of older white people leaving and entering. I’ll admit I began to wonder if this was an event “for us.” In fact I almost didn’t go in but I pressed on.

What did I do?

I spoke with a lot of people, I learned about the conditions that the state of Ohio has identified to qualify for legal use of marijuana. I had the opportunity to sample CBD powders, oils and hemp based foods. The ice cream was very good.

I also learned that there was a lot to learn about the marijuana industry, from cookbooks, to inventions and Meetup groups for the Midwest Cannabis women, and classes at the Ohio School of Cannabis for a career in the industry. There was also a vendor that sold pillows that were shaped like sexual organs.

Takeaways

I sometimes forget that marijuana is legal in Ohio. While speaking with one of the vendors, a lady walked over to talk about the THC and non-THC oils. She had her head wrapped which made me think she might have been battling cancer. In the moment my mind shifted.

With so many conversations about medial or recreational marijuana in states, I began to think about the people that are being helped with legalization. It was a nice feeling to see then realize that people are being helped and finding some temporary solace from the pain of their illnesses.

If the event returns, I would attend again and take my time to understand more. I also decided to learn more about the industry so I can understand the impact and benefits of medical grade cannabis.
