Chrishawndra Matthews and her son Derrick have founded Literacy in the H.O.O.D. to address Cleveland’s literacy crisis, and have distributed over 100,000 books to inner-city neighborhoods, while also providing resources for adults to obtain their GED through the Seeds of Literacy program.
